RUTH KELLY OR DAVID BODDY? - WHO DO YOU BELIEVE?

Postby Justice » Sat Feb 25, 2006 12:14 am

CBetts, "on behalf of David Boddy" wrote:

Ruth Kelly Secretary of State for Education and Skills, was misinformed. No such investigation is being undertaken by the Metropolitan Police or by Social Services.

The Rt. Hon. Ruth Kelly said in the House of Commons last week (as reported by Hansard - The Official Record of Parliament):

The Department has been made aware of allegations of abuse by teachers at St. James Independent Schools for Boys between 1975 and 1985. The matter is currently under investigation by Richmond-upon-Thames social services department and the Metropolitan police. We are liaising with them and will consider what, if any, action is required once their investigation has been completed.

I am not asking you to take my word for it, just read the entry in Hansard, the official record of the House of Commons at:

If I were you Justice I would keep quite during this time. If you are wrong you just make yourself look stupid. Just a hypemeister. If indeed you are wrong your street credentials on this virtual street site will seriously falter. I don't understand. How long will it take to verify. A week. Why the capitol letter ultimatum to everyone when in a week we will all know. If you are right it's cool. But notice C Betts' low key statements. Surely you must now have some doubt. The unwise thing to do when in doubt is to shout louder. Sit on it. We can all wait to find out. If you are right. Great. Cool. Right on! If you are wrong it will seriously implode your credentials. I'm the first to congratulate you when you hit the spot. But if I were you I would pipe down. Unless you really are that confident.
If you are wrong. People will look at your posts all your posts and decide they are flap. If you are right they will know you are where it's at.
That is unless you are really sure.

Lets just wait if it will be confirmed one way or the other. Really, what is the point of the vote? It won't clear up the confusion, that's for sure.

OK, I'm sure that Ruth Kelly and her senior civil servants will clear up the "confusion" in due course.

I find it very revealing that in various postings in this and other threads (excluding mgormez), people seem to be only too happy to attack the messenger because they dont like the message.

But consider this. Do you really think that a senior cabinet minister will make a statement to the House of Commons without having had the facts checked first by her senior staff?

If Ruth Kelly says:

We are liaising with them...

and she isnt, why would she bother to make the statement?

Is she really that incompetent?

Or are a lot of people on this Bulletin Board in denial?

I think, unless I?m totally wrong, It was Ruth Kelly's 'side kick' that commented in answer to the question. Let?s just wait and see, no point digging the hole any deeper.....
