A lot of things. Why, what do you make of it?

Yeah, it has changed. I still have PMs from you from 2 years ago. :) I don't think the board's morphed into something weird and separate from how it started; rather it's solidified and found its own identity with a basic majority voice speaking out against a common enemy or common circumstance. I fe...

Don't think there's an "Oy", Ben. Maybe you're thinking of "Ow", or more properly, "au". Halanta pha (sort of), halanta la, but then I think we come undone, unless you want to take the letters one by one with consonants in halanta form and go with O, Y and D by themselves. So "Pink" wouldn't be a pr...

Thanks for your thoughtful post, Mike. I asked because Daffy said GB's posts were "supportive of the overall goals of the forum", so I figured there must be some laid out somewhere. A couple of years ago, it was a bit more laissez faire, so I was curious to know what the "goals" are now.

Hi Daffy or Mike - could you clarify please? What are "the overall goals of the forum"?

FT, I've never had it said that "the man knows more." It has been suggested that the guy finds it easier to make decisions not unduly influenced by emotional state, though. I've pretty much eschewed bringing the more esoteric side into this discussion, but I imagine the SES's view on "natural law" a...

It's actually not simply that I'd think he knows/understands more than me, in general. Maybe I haven't made that clear, but maybe I'm not likely to be able to. How do you usually objectively establish "who knows more" in any given situation, if there's disagreement? Anyway, do you get the feeling we...

ADG, I'm not saying you should do anything. If I investigated a school and found it to be seriously flawed, discussed this with my husband as mentioned, and then he still insisted on sending our kid there for some reason, I'd say there would be something wrong with the process, but yes - the idea is...

Hi Celia,

I removed it after your comment, since I thought it was insensitive to people who felt like they didn't have a choice, for whatever reason.

Anton, I've heard of the Mavro years, and what it entailed for quite a few people. From all recent accounts, it sounds hideous, and a result of what can happen when people don't question obvious brutality and egotism early on. Unfortunately, it took longer than it should have to have this man ejecte...

Howdy Frith, Thanks for acknowledging. I'm a current member of one of the SES's Australian branches, and your story - especially the description of the increasing time demands, the unrealistic expectations on you as a bearer of the torch, and effect on your family relationships - really struck home ...

Chittani - heads-up noted, and thanks. This is something that we've been exposed to for many years, so there's been quite a bit of opportunity to contemplate, and argue, and contemplate, and dip a toe in, and argue some more, and dip another toe in, etc. I haven't yet encountered anything that would...
