both hands raised...! crying when trying to speak about personal issues having a very quick temper with non-personal issues but, and this is the biggest problem in my view as I can apologise and explain the other two... bottling everything up whenever possible and then surprising people with what ap...

Hi Sally Are you thinking of 'we wish you a very happy birthday, a joyous and celebrated birthday, to you dear <noname>, we wish you a long long life'. I was there! Now, I'm the first to admit that my memory is not great where the school is concerned but my memory tells me this 'round' was originall...

Shout He was one of those who gave their consent for these crimes in the first place! Do you have any basis in fact for suggesting my father knowingly gave consent to any crime being committed? Your post reads pretty much along the lines of 'The Truth is this and all personal and familial responsibi...

Speaking for myself: I was expecting exactly what happened. I will be submitting a complaint. I will be forwarding the details to other pupils and parents (though I will not presume to instruct them that they must make a submission). And when the report is produced and the school dismisses it as mea...

I'm afraid you missed my point. My father does not deserve the type of fallout that I expect from SES. What he may deserve from my sister and myself is a different matter and we will handle that in our own way and in our own time. I have shown him some of some of the inquiry information and he is ge...

No Stanton there hasn't. Not for those of us who are only beginning to allow ourselves to remember. Last night I managed, for the first time, to remember a conversation with my form teacher of over four years. Does that sound like I've had time to 'gather my memories together'! NOT! And no way am I ...

Oh, I fully admit to being consious of the arguments about sexual peaks, I just thought it might be a useful one to throw into the pot. But, assuming that it was factual how would you respond if the SES did another volte face and started teaching this? They are not unknown for changing their minds...!

OK, the diet I've outlined is what we were served in the day schools in the UK . Lamb and pears is, as far as I'm aware a pretty standard exclusion diet - i.e a base from which you start to add other foods when trying to establish which are the problem ones - these two food stuffs being the ones peo...

I know from experience, and other ex-pupils have confirmed that they have the same problem, that trying to explain the totality of the experience of being brought up in SES is nigh on impossible. What you have to factor into every aspect of what you question or speculate about and every response you...

Diet - Interestingly, this is a relatively new thing for SES, when my dad joined they still had full roast meals. But compared to current UK state schools the diet really wasn't that unhealthy, just unpalatable. bread for carbs, cheese or nuts for protein and fat, fresh salad and fruit - anyone want...

Mike, I'd like to add my thanks as well for so generously hosting a most effective tool in combating the poor self esteem and loneliness of those years. It has been quite a journey the last few months! Thanks also to Alban for the encouragement. And to Tom for getting the ball rolling and being so a...

Though inedible, our school meals were exceedingly healthy in a lot of respects - except of course if you had a dairy or wheat intolerance or just couldn't get enough down you to maintain a flea because it was so loathsome. Personally I never had a problem eating it because I was always starving and...
