REPLY TO RECENT POSTS

I hope this thread isn't veering too far off-topic (if it does, perhaps we should open a new thread) but I just have to respond to some of the points that Antises, 'ANON - from the girls' school' and 'a different guest' have made! Here we go: To Antises: Apparently, you think that "girls don't need ...

Hi ANON - from the girls' school! Well, of course it's sexual discrimination! As is their stupid generalisation about a man feeling the need to protect and a woman needing to be loved. I feel a strong need to protect AND to be protected and loved. Does this make me a man and a woman at the same time...

In reply to the latest Guest posting - by the way, I think Mike's suggestion of using a fake name if you want to remain anonymous is a good one - I would say that any teacher who believes corporal punishment is the only way to discipline boys should not be teaching boys! Anyway, why is physical assa...

A correction

A correction: In the interests of truth (well, I'm interested in it even if the SES isn't!) I would like to correct something I wrote in a previous post. In my first post on this thread I mistakenly wrote that the former headmaster of St Vedast boys' school (Nicholas Debenham) "is still beating chil...

I was very interested to read the anonymous contributions from the two current St James pupils. Here are my responses: To the pupil at the girls' school: Many thanks for your contribution! I'm very glad (and rather amazed!) to read that so much has apparently changed at the school. If you are indeed...

Hi Christopher, I've just read your post. I'm glad you're able to be so philosophical about your experiences! I agree that Mr Howell was basically fairly decent. I always felt he didn't really belong in such a brutal establishment. One of the very few other teachers there with any decency about them...

Hi Dan! Good to hear from you! Your post brought back some of the very few happy memories I have of my time at St Vedast. I'm very impressed that you managed to stay so calm when you met Hipshon and Debenham - I'm not sure I could have! I'm not at all surprised by their reactions, though. Denial and...

Er, that was my post again. I'm sure I logged in but for some reason my name didn't come up.

Identifying myself

Just to say that the above post (my response to Mathew's account, and my own experiences at St Vedast) was mine! It appeared anonymously because I posted it before I registered.
