Nicholas Debenham's Education Renaissance Trust held their conference on 'The Teacher & Society' yesterday. It didn't go quite as they had planned!

Child abusers STILL teaching at St James
Just received this email from David Boddy: Dear Mr Grubb, In response to your recent email to School, the position with regards to teachers is as explained on the iirep.com website. There is no change. The Governors of St James Schools are assisting the reconciliation process between past pupils and...

I emailed St James on 23rd September asking whether any teachers named by Mr Townend as guilty of persistent acts of excessive punishment or criminal assault were still teaching at any St James school. I was assured that my message had been passed on to Mr Boddy. Still no reply. Has anybody else tri...

Yeah, looks like they're giving us the silent treatment again. I emailed St James over a week ago asking whether any teachers named by Townend as mistreating students were still working there. I was told that the message has been passed on to Boddy but have heard nothing since. It does look like the...

Hopefully, this is because of mass resignations from the SES, and people generally moving on with their lives!
If only!

So where are we with the recociliation process? All I hear from the SES is silence. They seem to have ignored Matthew's open letter and done nothing to uncover any more truth about what went on at their schools. If reconciliation meetings really are taking place and apologies being made, why aren't ...

It makes sense to me, too. When I was at St Vedast (during the time of the missing punishment book) caning was a very common occurrence. I can think of at least two pupils who could well have been caned hundreds of times during their time there. Not that I would blame Townend for reaching his conclu...

I've just downloaded and skimmed through the latest St James Newsletter ( http://www.stjamesschools.co.uk/v2/documents/Spring06.pdf ) Strangely enough, there's not a single mention about the Townend Inquiry or the so-called reconciliation process. I guess that so much has been happening at the schoo...

Thought I'd better stick my head above the parapet again before certain people start celebrating my disappearance. Been taking a bit of a break from ranting about child abuse to catch up with a few things and enjoy the footie. Also, training hard for a supposed 'fun run' I'm supposed to be doing for...

Thanks, ADG and Free! I've just sent the following email to feedback@theage.com.au I hope a few other people will send something, too, perhaps mentioning the recent TV and newspaper coverage of the schools. Tom I was interested to read Claire Halliday's article 'Quiet please, learning in progress', ...

Mr Lambie's apology is very late but I welcome it. But, as others have said, it now needs to be backed up with meaningful action . When are the actual perpetrators of the abuse going to apologise? Why are teachers who have assaulted children still teaching at SES-run schools? When is Debenham going ...
