I said those involved should take that discussion to another thread rather than taking over this one with a separate discussion. Given the poignancy of the original post, it's a crying shame that this thread has degenerated into a one-side attack (at time slanderous) on those it is widely known won...

Bella - I think you would agree that fact that you have tertiary qualifications in an appropriate area is more good luck than good management. Bella wrote:- or to threaten to withdraw love or support because of behaviour. While the samples you gave just before this I totally agree with, with the abo...

not just 'whiter than white' Alban, an organisation that charges money to give advice on a particular topic should have some sort of expertise and qualifications in that area. As can been seen from sugerloafs link (thanks SL) the person teaching these people who pay their money for a 'practical pare...

Thanks Bella, I did recall there had been a thread discussing this at one time - but couldn't remember which. I wonder though the wisdom of not using 'emotion' in setting boundaries for young children. The reason why toddlers have tantrums or bite another child is because their emotions are out of c...

Hmmm, that could explain alot... So do SES parents not use pre-schools/kinders TD do you know? And what is the stage after "love a...

I figured I'd reaquaint myself with this guff, and see if I can swallow my pride enough to share the weirdest experience of my life with my beloved.

Yes, that bit about being able to get back home to mum for a decent dinner... you're not going to get out of THAT one easily. ;)

Great story ab. And think of the logic to be got from it? - smokers don't get sucked into cults! :lol!: Anyway, welcome from another aussie *waves* Re net searches, I am guessing that your experience in academe must make you a bit of a whiz net-searcher - it's been discussed in other threads how lit...

Ross ... The Ravesis have gone, citing your repeated attacks on them as the reason. Surely his troll-like behaviour has gone too far if this is the result? But if you need another black mark against him, I believe Mike put an edict on him a while ago to never mention Aboriginal issues on these boar...

I can't imagine it being administered to the preps, Well it was junior primary rather than what I used to call "infants" - so perhaps not done to the preps/kindies. . Lots of biting, spitting, pushing, and the inability to express their feelings or needs. They sound like toddlers NOT school ready k...

I guess looking like a 'thug' does not involve wearing a suit. So they probably wouldn't want to go near you anyway! :D Mike, I took the original post as being meant humerously - remember Dissenter comes from a country where the government tourist authority thinks a great advertising slogan to entic...

And what is your take on that 'interpretation' Stanton? Do you think it was reasonable?

Do you know what the questions are? No. Just that they record the kid who (with prompting? ), says stuff like "I promise not to do it again" and then the play the tape the next time. Unfortunately the child has no idea what 'it' is. Apparently this can go on every day for a couple of weeks.

Just back on the primary schools in au (and cross-posted in another thread) I have recently learnt that some kids spend a lot of their time in detention. They have no idea why they are in detention, to them it is just something they have to do. They are questioned while in detention and their answer...
