I've got to admit, I have a problem with this. Firstly, WTF does the Shakaracharya know about kids? Has he even got any of his own - even if he has, what makes him such an authority on them. In my very limited experience (I only have two) all kids are wildly different, and what works for one does no...

I hated the cadets - it seemed to me just another excuse for people to shout at you, except this time they were pretending to be soldiers rather than pretending to be teachers. I guess it's my aversion to men in suits (or uniform in this case) being given authority over me, when none is deserved (or...

Actually Sam, they chose to put it in the public domain. There is no limitation of copying in this respect as long as the authors are credited when necessary and revenue is not earned from the material's re-use.

Sam Hyde wrote:...they are coming PARACHUTING with us cadets in 2 weeks time!..

Ha, I hope they're still not expected to wear their long skirts while doing this...conjures up images of Mary Poppins!

...I think personally whether Governors resign is a matter for their own conscience, I am certainly not going to be calling for anyone's resignation as the Governors have very little to do with the day to day running of the school. (as Mary mentioned). I think people need to realise that generally,...

Actually Zathura - it is a very big deal. Why would you feel it necessary to take your own life. How could anyone be so completely desperate for this to seem the only way out. If you feel it is no big deal and you are serious, then would you care to expand - give us a bit of background - explain why...

Thanks Leon. To be honest - all this banter about whether the SES is a cult and whether St James is / was guilty of being a part of that is irrelevant. People can look at stuff like this and make up their own minds. You don't have to look too closely to see that it is a complete load of tripe!..how ...

I agree with all points. I might have been persuaded that point 2 was a bit harsh in one circumstance, but IMHO the deafening silence from all but 3 of the teachers has convinced me that a total 100% break with the past is required. Besides which, you've got to ask yourself...would I ever be able to...

...before Mr Debenham left the school, I asked him how much influence the SES had on the school, his reply was NONE, because the school and the SES broke apart Then he is a liar, but Mr Townend has already insinuated that anyway. Theo, A lot of us here are perfectly willing to accept that the schoo...

...We all know where the original idea came from and we all know that the SES WAS extremely sexism and to an extent still is. maybe you could have a little word with Theo then - get him up to speed :fadein: So what is the law regarding dress codes? Am I perfectly within my rights to violate a dress...

Theo, I will repeat...again! It is not what they choose to wear, it is the very fact that there is a rule that they have to wear it. It is of no consequence what a certain teacher did on "Mufti day", the point is, she obviously felt compelled to return to her long skirts thereafter. You guys are eit...

... I would also like to mention with all respect to Alban that female teachers wearing skirts is not the end of world. Suppose that your theory is correct and the SES won't allow the teachers wear trousers. Do you really think that's a cause for concern about sexism?? I don't know, maybe the apoca...

got up and slated josh (aka: headboy)... So, let me get this right...Of the current pupils posting on this forum, we have at least two current head-boys out of the three or four who are defending the school (where no defence is necessary), and two anonymous pupils who are not quite so enthusiastic ...

...When I was your age I thought I was cool independent thinking and cool about women not being subserviant at all. i've always been a romantic. However I began to notice when I hit twenty five that much as I'd always rejected the S.E.S view of women in truth it was still an imprint, a blue print j...
