Re: THE SES and THE LAWS OF MANU

I found this story about the widows really disturbing and strongly disagree with much of the Hindu beliefs and practices taught by the school. That is why the SOP and SES has to be more open about who and what they are. I joined a general Philosophy class - I did not know I was joining a school whic...

Re: 'Shame on You' by Clara Salaman

How awful that the SES has decided to go down this route. They may be opening a whole new can of worms that they won't be able to get away from - Im surprised they invite this type of publicity. Im sure there are plenty here who will defend Clara's position - and if need be, there are plenty who wil...

Re: 'Shame on You' by Clara Salaman

What a book!! I have laughed out loud, felt shamed at some of her experiences and cried at some of the very humiliating and sore bits. What can I say? I just know there is more facts in this book than fiction. Some of it was so humorous I laughed out loud in the bookshop, on the bus, at home - innoc...

Re: 'Shame on You' by Clara Salaman

Reading through these posts and something struck me. The SES seems to have lied, lied, denied and lied again. The leaders must be the most arrogant, ignorant people to think they can get away with this. They are doing what they tried to teach us to do - what I think they teach is - to blank everythi...

Re: is the school of philosophy a cult?

Thanks ET, sometimes honesty is the best policy! Thanks to freethinker, ET and Bonsai for helpful posts. Can anyone explain to me what the residentials are for? What are they supposed to achieve? Are they supposed to enlighten us more or are they to brainwash us more? Can't quite figure that one out...

Re: is the school of philosophy a cult?

Hi ET and Freethinker, I finally got back from my trip to meet with my old colleagues and friends. I took your advice and told them the truth - although I didnt go into too many details. The one lady i was concerned about was not very pleasant and was very pleased that she was right. I didnt tell he...

Re: is the school of philosophy a cult?

Can anyone help with advice on how to move forward from being in SOP for so long? I am meeting with a few colleagues and friends who questioned me about this philosophy school over the years, and at all times I was always quick to defend the school, I feel a bit embarrassed about having the wool pul...

Re: is the school of philosophy a cult?

Not sure of that one Bonsai, although a couple of properties have been left to them by legacies. I will contact my relatives who know more and also a few friends who are still there and find out if they know anything

Re: is the school of philosophy a cult?

Hi Bonsai, I'll have to check on the amounts but I think it was on a scale of £7 - £35/45 per month - i think whatever the person could afford. Im sure there was again a subtle but powerful pressure for those involved to conform. I'll check and get back to you, but Im sure you will agree its a lot o...

Re: is the school of philosophy a cult?

Yes Bonsai, I know what you mean, but its very easy to overlook the subtleness and secrecy used by this organisation. Why do they advertise as a school of philosophy when that is not what they are about? They use that to get people to join. If it is a philosophy course then why after a few years of ...

Re: The old 'whyaretheydead.net' site

I came across that site when I was looking for this forum, and noticed it had changed and that the person selling the ads for the site was called Bob Parsons - Im pretty sure I met a Bob Parsons in SOP from one of the schools up north, might just be one of these strange coincidences ....... or not!

Re: is the school of philosophy a cult?

Oh boy!! That is an interesting (and funny!!) video - yes bells were ringing very loudly indeed. I wish I'd seen that a couple of months (years?) ago. As an ex sop student I can assure people that this stuff is still going on but its just a little more subtle and happens over a good number of years....

Re: is the school of philosophy a cult?

Hi ET This caused a great deal of distress within my family, and I can't think why they would have behaved this way unless they were somehow ashamed of the "weakness" my relative was showing. Maybe they werent ashamed of the "weakness" maybe its easier for them to get people to d...

Re: is the school of philosophy a cult?

Hi Bonsai Yes I have left the school, I was re-readig your post and noticed I hadnt answered that - I couldnt think straight while I was still in the school - but a situation brought me to my senses - up till then I believe I was in a "foggy", complacent state of mind enjoying being more c...
