Re: 'Shame on You' by Clara Salaman

Dear StVSurvivor, Now I am confused. Shri Vasudevananda took over from Shantanda Saraswati as I understand it. No one in the SES has said that he is a criminal that I know of. There are reports that he may be involved with right wing politics in India though which is what I want to find out about. T...

Re: 'Shame on You' by Clara Salaman

Thanks for your support ET. I may attend Donald Lambie's beginning of year lecture in September to see if any of this has had an effect on attitudes towards gender. I had only intended to give it one more term anyway. I am also trying to find out more about the Holy man the SES are in contact with, ...

Re: 'Shame on You' by Clara Salaman

This book is the final straw for me - I won't be returning to the SES next term.

SES and Gender Balance

Following on from the topic headed ‘How many people still read this forum?’: This is to update those interested that the gender issue I have been trying to address cannot be taken any further until the autumn term. I have been reassured in some areas of concern. In the meantime I would just like to ...

The Laws of Manu

Yes ses-surviver, there is a new 'interpretation' of the Laws of Manu, its called The Laws of Womanu! Just kidding! I have a copy of the 'new translation' of the Laws of Manu produced by members of the SES (incomplete at the moment). The new translation reads similar to this, apart from a superficia...

Re: How many people still read this Forum?

There have certainly been many 'experiments' or changes over the years. The difficulty is getting to understand the core or fundamental beliefs around which change can and does occur, but beyond which the SES has so far proved incapable of moving. For instance to bring about real gender equality of ...

Re: How many people still read this Forum?

Dear ses-surviver, You wrote: I have no idea whether this took place in response to a request from the ladies for the men to step up and do their duty or whether it was part of some wider experiment. In the couple of years that followed a number of the men in their mid-30s married or became engaged ...

Re: How many people still read this Forum?

Dear Free Thinker I know what you mean. I have also read some posts about young girls in the past (I hope) being manipulated to meet older SES men at events, but now I can't find the topic again. I was horrified and disgusted at such organised treatment of young girls. The more I read on this forum ...

SES Reform: Gender Balance

Dear Free Thinker, Thanks, that does help to understand the effect on girls and women who grow up with these ideas presented from a young age, and I have read various posts on this Forum, but a lot is from a long time ago. I did not join until I was in my late twenties so I had a sense of my own ‘id...

Re: How many people still read this Forum?

Thanks Free Thinker, The new term has started now and I will be watching to see if any changes are apparent. I wonder if you could give any more details about the difficulties you experienced as a woman in the SES, or point me to any posts where you have already mentioned this on this site? Trubleshtr

Re: How many people still read this Forum?

Dear Daffy et al,

For your information I am seeking transparency concerning gender balance within the SES, particularly related to Leadership positions, both in principle and in practice. I am sorry but I am currently unable to provide any further details. I will in due course.

SES changes

Many of those that contribute to this Forum seem to either have friends or parents in the SES so I probably can’t really provide any more details about the changes over the years than you know already. I am not in a position to know any ‘official’ internal information either. As soon as I start writ...

SES Reform

Hold that thought Bonsai! I am dealing with the issue internally at the moment and am awaiting a response. I will discuss the issue and the outcome at that point. I can't say anymore - and may have already 'blown my cover'! This whole 'us' and 'them' situation that occurs if a 'firmly held belief' o...

Re: How many people still read this Forum?

Thank you for your responses and thoughtful and helpful comments. I appreciate the warning about discussing SES reforms openly here and wonder if there are any current members of the SES engaging in this Forum? In my experience there have been many improvements and reforms over the years within the ...
