Re: What is it like at St James now?

Good that he's doing mainstream subjects. And I guess he's not just being given bread, cheese and yoghurt to eat. So there are some changes.

Re: SES Advertising

I suggest someone who lives in London should go out with a black marker and do a bit of graffiti.

Re: Steiner Schools

Thank you concernedmum, that is very kind. I do know quite a few sensible people who's children go there now. Some of the extremely "steinerised" stuff they are amused by or take with a pinch of salt. Maybe because it is my first child going to "school" not yet 4 I'm not ready fo...

Re: Laughter is the best medicine

This has made me chuckle so much. Especially as years after leaving SES my dad insists on getting up when he wakes up and is always up around 4 or 5am. He also says that we don't need more than 6 hours sleep a night, something else he got from back in his SES days. But now he has retired he spends h...

Copy the passage from the person's thread, Then post reply Then click quote , then paste The biggest problem is that you are not as they suggest excersising your 'self-discipline' - they are repressing you and disciplining you - often just through peer pressure or with more outright displays as doc...

Re: Steiner Schools

Thanks guys. What is unusual about us is that we live in the village where this school is, otherwise we wouldn't have been seeking an alternative to state education. I am particularly wary because of going to StJ in my formative years. We have been looking into it for quite a while and asking lots o...

Steiner Schools

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of Steiner schools and does anyone think there are parallels with SES? My eldest little boy has just started at the kindergarten of the Steiner school which happens to be in our village. There appear to be many wonderful things about the Steiner approach ...

Re: Coming to terms with stupidity

I well remember how Lambie would slay someone with a mere look in a meeting. And why did he need to slay someone with a look? You were adults, that is not how the normal adult world needs to behave. If someone has a question or a challenge or even a nasty cough, or whatever in a meeting outside of ...

Re: Do you still have nightmares?

It was funny reading about those stairs and basements in Clara's book because it was just like one of my recurring dreams. Same as you ET always menacing dreams.

Re: Do you still have nightmares?

My dreams very often include the back stairs at 90 or 91 and the basements and other bits of those 2 buildings. And in my dreams almost every night of my life I am running, flying, fleeing away from something. It's exhausting!

Re: Another story

I remember the name of the child but it's not fair to tell someone else's story, she probably got really screwed up in later life becasue she was a frequent victim and so probably did the other 2 girls my sister remembers being ritually humiliated.

Re: Another story

My sister used to tell that story, but she has forgotten a lot of detail now and can't remember which teacher. It was a female. Her teachers were Miss White (i doubt it was her) and later Miss Aires(?sp) or it could have been a different one. They both got married,( Miss White became another Mrs Dav...
