Re: Coming to terms with stupidity

Definition of Troll. Someone who goes about forums or other websites in an attempt to purposely upset people and cause arguments. There is no reasoning with them and any attempt to belittle or mock them is just pointless and makes you look stupid in the process. The only real way to stop a troll is ...

Re: Rules, regulations, and directions made in SES/SOP/SFSK

Looking at my Webster's college dictionary, criticism is defined as 'An act of passing judgment as to the merits of anything.' Dr. Alan has put the rule regarding criticism into context of Advaita Vedanta, since this is the philosophy which the SES group are promoting. His post makes it clear why cr...

Re: Rules, regulations, and directions made in SES/SOP/SFSK

Hi Earlgrey nice topic. 'Criticism is never necessary and never justified', having spent 14 years in the SOP and many years in other spiritual organizations criticism always tops the no-no list. Why, because group unity is important for any spiritual organization to function properly. If you don't l...

Re: SFSK Devotee

In my humble opinion a Machiavellian quality (conniving, cunning, opportunist, wily) is the only qualification needed to run a spiritual school. The only two people who had the above qualifications that I ever met in my 14 years in the SOP were Mrs Mavro and David Boddy. So I have to agree with enlight...

Re: Nothing Wrong with SES

A lot of people joined the SOP to experience Sat-Chit-Ananda A combination of three Sanskrit words, Sat, Chit, and Ānanda— meaning existence, consciousness, and bliss. Sat Chit Ananda is the pure, undifferentiated state of non-duality. It is the most perfect expression of our primordial Self. which ...

We come into this world drooling and we go out drooling, and in between sometimes we have a little fun! Good luck to you Ahamty2.

Re: Mistakes against the Shankaracharya Tradition

Looking up Wikipedia about the Exorcism of the Gerasene Demoniac I now know where you are coming from Gerasene Demon and I would like to apologize for any offense you may have taken to one of my posts. I simply did not know your personal circumstances even though you left many clues. This is a probl...

Re: Mistakes against the Shankaracharya Tradition

I have to agree with StillatSES, that recently there has been to many personal attacks on contributors to this forum. We all have our views about the various topics that are brought onto the forum but should respect views held by others. Name calling just brings into question the mental stability of...

Re: Sydney SOP 70's. A Different Perspective.

The fact that the most unsuitable, deceitful bullies rose to positions of power and authority in SOP was very revealing (when I finally had eyes to see) as to the real purpose of Mavro's SOP: a nice, protected, financially comfortable nest for themselves. Caveat emptor. Why did it take you so long ...

Re: Sydney SOP 70's. A Different Perspective.

sydneykatieking, has it not always been the case that 'He who pays the piper calls the tune"? Buddy poured money into the Sydney school and for this he did get a few privileges. Its the same with the spiritual organization that I have been in for the last 20 years. Those who contribute more mon...

Re: Mistakes against the Shankaracharya Tradition

The only mistake the SES and its satellites made was to keep any of the Gurdjieff's teaching. Gurdjieff was a magician who used hypnosis to obtain his pupils energies. I left School in 1990 because I realized 99% of the pupils including the senior tutors were asleep and being used for their energies...

Maybe I'm sounding a bit like the Four Yorkshire men in the Monty Python sketch but school was really tough in the olden days! LOL

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

Welcome snapper and your contribution is most appreciated to the discussion. As most people on this forum have a negative opinion about the Mavros including myself. My opinion was not gained by listening to hearsay as you suggest but by direct experience of the Mavros in such places as the refurbish...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

Ella, the remembering the group at certain times reminded me of what happened to one of the School of Philosophy lady many years ago. She worked in a large office in the city and whenever it was time to remember the group in the morning she would retire to to the rest room for a few minutes. However...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

Just a question about the SFSK, do they have the practice of remembering the group at certain times of day (10.00 am & 4.00 pm)? Also is this practice still observed in the Practical Philosophy School?
