No Stanton, my father was never a governor at any of the schools. Between 1985-87 he was a member of the SES executive committee. He finally came to his senses, leaving the SES in '87 and has never looked back since!

Re: The report, and the school's response, should be questio

What we are dealing with here is a large group of people who were traumatised as children. What special skills or experiences does JT have here which allow him to be so dismissive? I am no expert on that subject - but I strongly suspect that traumatic experiences burn much stronger and enduring mem...

thank you for pointing out the website link (which I'm not surprised to hear has only recently gone up) - it may be an oversight, but it is not accessible via the Junior Schools section of the site, only the Senior Schools. That's a very good point. There is nothing at all on the junior school site...

Re: Moving schools - taking a child out of St James

Our decision developed gradually but was finally triggered by a recent assessment of our daughter by a "conventional" school showing a high IQ, great English, but really atrocious Maths. The new school commented that they had not seen results like it and that the only possible explanation was very ...

The point is they've only put that link there becasue of all the mounting pressure and criticism they've been under for the last two + years, and not because they felt a genuine need to be more transparent.

Open letter update

Thank you to everyone who has so far signed the open letter. At the last count there are approximately 80 signatures. People are still signing so the letter will not be sent just yet, but it is planned to send the letter in the next couple of weeks. Once again I would encourage anyone who has not ye...

Yes I had already read that - 'Sparks' posted the link a few days ago. I was just wondering if you had actually contacted them yourself, and if so what was the response. Or are you simply the messenger?

These include: "Spying in Guru land" by William Shaw "Call No Man Master" by Joyce Collin Smith "In search of heaven on Earth" by Rachel Storm "In search of PD Ouspensky: The Genius in the Shadow of Gurdjieff" by Gary Lachman...

GB, you're right, it is quite readable. I bought that book on your recommendation, and ended up scanning the relevant sections and submitting them to Townend for the inquiry. It seems like he made use of it, as it was part of his bibliography. So just wanted to say thanks.

I agree that Hipshon has a better case than the others because he did come forward with an apology, and I did respect him for that. However it was not an unreserved apology, but one with...

Theo, what happened in your school in the 70s and 80s was most definitely NOT corporal punishment. It was in fact criminal assault on children from as young as 4 and a half. That is to say criminal assault by 70s/80s standards, let alone today's. Not only have there been numerous accounts and testim...
