...Anyway, there are no such prescriptions here on what you can or can't take in a meal. You can take what you want, although I notice in Melbourne that "it is the custom to take the first course in silence". So everyone's whispering to their neighbour to pass them the bread, or slide the butter. O...

...But there's more than one way of looking at it. Actually, I think this is pretty much a black and white situation in an otherwise grey world. There is no excuse for that behaviour! JC, do you feel that the apology you got was whole-hearted and unqualified, or was it wrapped up in justification? ...

I'm sorry to hear it and it seems like Mary Pickering also regrets it. But there may be a benefit taken as a whole. Please don't think I am in any way making light of the incident if I say that the more openness there is -the better. For as long as relatives and parents think their child was happy ...

know what you mean about impatient...it's like a stranger talking to you in a completely different language. Some may get frustrated at themselves for not understanding, others, impatient that the stranger can't converse in familiar tones. I just get bored and walk away.

Yep, still can't listen to it...in fact I have a rant about the SES attitude towards music here: http://www.whyaretheydead.net:/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=119 ...But I don't feel particularly sad about it as you say ems, mainly because there's always loads of new things to listen to out there. I don't k...

Like everything, homeopathy has it's place - that place is not as the sole remedy for a broken arm, or for major illnesses and diseases, and it is foolish to treat them that way. I think the term "Complementary Medicine" describes them very well - i.e. they should be used to complement traditional t...

Antises,

It didn't make sense the first time you wrote it - what is the point of repeating yourself!

Merry / Patrick Please don't forget that it is through this (anonymous) site that we have achieved the recognition that we have so far. I think it is a perfectly valid stance to publicly ask questions of David Boddy here - he has after all posted on here himself (or so we are led to believe) and we ...

Re: What it would take to achieve ?Truth and Reconciliation?

I agree Anita, there is a long long way to go before such a process could take place. However, I would just like to highlight one thing you said, just so it doesn't get lost... ...This idea was first mooted in a conversation between Mrs Hyde and my husband over three years ago as a way for the staff...

Well I remember his son telling us that his dad used to listen to Pink Floyd (it's that band again!)...so he can't be all bad! ...but that was over 25 years ago...about the time of "We don't need no education", although I would imagine that some of the earlier, more mellow albums were more to his ta...

After only two days of results, I'm quite suprised that the majority of you went hunting. I suppose I'd rather thought the grapevine would have played a bigger part in the audience figures.

Just goes to show the power of Google.

That first step

With so many members, I thought it would be very interesting to see how people came to be part of the comunity here. Personally, I just happened to look at Friends re-united one day (out of the blue) and saw Matthew's message about how he had posted here. As it turned out, Matthew, Tom, Dan and myse...

Hi Andrea, I sincerely hope that this is the last time you'll have to deal with the emotional pain brought up by your recolections. I too have found it to be a painful but cathartic process, and whereas before I would not have talked about this to anyone, I now feel able to talk relatively objective...
