Re: Another reason to preserve this site
I agree with Daffy about the proper appreciation of privacy. SES is no different from any other authoritarian organization and relies on information gained about its members from whatever sources available. In my days in school it was the class secretary's duty to collect information about the pupil...

Re: Shutting down
Nothing is ever lost once it is put on the net. There are many websites that archive old material that is no longer available. Google waybackmachine then type ses-forums.org and you will see all the old posts. However you have to know what you are looking for to find the old web sites so new members...

Re: How Cults Rewire the Brain
The following talk was given to the sixth form at St James Senior Boys' School, Ashford by Mr Jeremy Sinclair. If anybody knows anything about rewiring the brain it would be him. If marketing cigarettes & beer with adverts is easy, marketing a Philosophy School would be a push over. "We wer...

Re: St James Senior Boy's School Surrey
Actress Emily Watson describes herself as a "Nice middle class English girl" and described St James as a 'progressive' school. According to Wikipedia her father was an architect and her mother was an English teacher, so maybe St James schools are for the so called middle class.

St James Senior Boy's School Surrey
Does attending SES schools like St James mean your parents have to be millionaires? Checked out the fees they charge and they are definitely not for the lower classes. Maybe that's how all the English independent schools are. The following is from one of their brochures about the school. Turning out...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
Could somebody please explain why a Guru is necessary when learning meditation? Take TM for instance which requires a weeks wages for the secret manta which can simply be found by goggling Transcendental Meditations mantra. The mantras are given according to ones age its as simple as that, so if you...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
Wow having to kiss Michael Mavro on the lips, no wonder you left School! With SOP weddings I remember some of them would rival the wedding of Diana Princess of Wales. I attended Ron W wedding at the St James' Anglican church in King Street and that was a big one. The funny thing was that a few years...

My understanding is that Mavro is not their real name. Well not the one she has on her passport. Does anybody know Mrs Mavro's real name? Or maybe its a secret for tax purposes!

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
Hi Texas, yes I remember when Nana worked at bookstore at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Every time there was an exhibition on at the gallery and I was with one of the School's ladies they always insisted dropping into the bookshop and saying hello to her. I did not really like this because at ...

Re: Residentials
Hi Minnie and welcome to the forum. It has been over 20 years since I left the SOP and would have expected a lot of changes to have occurred for the better in the school. But reading your post its still the same! Parroting the Upanishads and other holly scriptures and following all the rules about m...

There does not seem to be much love in the SFSK. What have people been doing for the past 20 years?

Re: An End to the Usurpation by Daffy
Daffy keep up the good work it is much appreciated. I know how hard it is to please everyone, but considering you do not get one cent for doing the job personal criticism is unnecessary. I deal with the public myself and have to put up with the mentally unstable people who ring me up at 2.00 a.m. in...

Krishna, you mentioned his Holiness is 90 years old. Does he have a successor? Or is there going to be another battle like there was with the Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math.

Re: Coming to terms with stupidity
I repeat 'don't feed the troll' you are just wasting your energy. With regards to Mrs M as she is nearing the end of her journey, she needs love not hate. A higher being than us will judge her good and bad actions. We all face death, and in the end hopefully our good actions outweigh the bad ones. I...
