Debenham being used as a scapegoat for the outrageous mind control being excercised by the SES is typical. He's effectively off the scene now, so slamming him may have a temporary effect within the SES, ie going some way to healing the growing schism within the organization. But go to the "1996...

To anti-ses

Further point is that DB would not be able to communicate with anybody as anything other than a member of SES - especially as headmaster of their principal day school. Have you tried?

T o Teacher 100

Teacher 100, you mention that children younger than 16 yrs. join SES via their parents' introduction. Are they old enough to know what they are doing? Or are you saying that they join via the same route as a Catholic, Evangelical etc family might bring their children into the fold. If the latter is ...

I fear that C. Betts will have received some positive feedback from ex pupils - most of whom will now be members pf SES - who will have been to some extent prompted to pass on how well they believe themselves to have been educated (in "general" terms). Those of us who were given strictures within wh...

I don't think Roger Pincham was ever actually an MP? Does anybody know for certain? I thought he had been Chairman of the Liberal Party.

Glad someone is finally talking school fees; and I'm sure Chris's mother would have been hard pressed to find a school with cheaper fees than St. Vedast in those days. Teacher salaries at the schools had a reputation for being poor and some of the better off members of staff were said to have worked...

Dear T.S. it sounds like you could useffully get in touch with other members of your ex classm and together send a comment to C. Betts. Presumably you were not the only member of this class to have been victimised in this way. Well done for having the courage to let it out.

Clara, did you have any friends in your class?! I'm pretty sure that those from your class who have gone on to become staunch members of SES have indeed perpetrated the idea that you did, in fact, supply Shiela Caldwell with pornography through the post. Certainly those of us who were around in any ...

Doesn't sound silly at all, but if you have things to contribute about more recent issues at St. James, Twickenham, then you should indeed give the examples - the facts that is. There is nothing to fear, and many might benefit from hearing what life is like there more recently.

More to Aother concerned parent

The frank and honest postings on this site will have had a hugely positive effect on cicvilising the methods used in st.James. Pity we were too young to speak up at the time. But the likes of the current heads of these schools would have been aware of goings on as well as many, many other adults. To...

Mr.Lacey and co

What you need to be clear about in relation to Mr. Lacey or any other member of staff at St. James (who is also a member of SES)is that they will follow whatever principles of right and wrong etc that are laid down by the parent organization. Of course, each will have their particular character, but...

Yes, st. james really does need to decide whether it's primary function is to ensure the propogation of the future ses or provide an enlightened education. the latter might well involve the acceptance of the fact that there are people, not in ses who value spiritual nourishment - and pursue it in th...

Thankyou BB and DH

These appologies are courageous and do have a releasing effect. But I hope that these men are not going to take the flack for the entire regime. one of the ideas which brought the whole abuse into play was the rock hard belief that ses alone understood how to educate the young. Maclaren had a loathi...

responsibility

Mr. Hipshon's posting failed to recognise that a headteacher should have complete knowledge of the type of discipline in use at their school. No good saying the head is a just man if he's not even aware of the disciplinary proceedures used by his staff. Might well be a just man; but the claim to "ju...
